what are ways to increase my golf swing speed?
im trying to increase my swing speed. what are some good drills/exercises that promote a faster golf club head speed?
Okay, so first off, it’s okay to increase your speed to a point, but make sure you don’t get too fast because even though it’s hard to believe fast swings do NOT equal farther shots. Many people think that the faster you swing the better, but it’s better to have a more controlled swing for more accurate, solid shots.
That being said, you can try practice swinging with heavier clubs. There is this drill club (blanking on the name) that is fairly heavy and that also bends when you swing it back incorrectly, so that’s a bonus. To get faster swings, you also need a faster rotation. Concentrate on your core: try swinging with your hands crossed on the opposite shoulders and swing like that to feel your body moving. So yes, you want to have a connected swing because that will result in more rotation (or coil at your backswing), which will end in more powerful shots. Hope this helped.
If all else fails, take a lesson or two!

Create more lag- if you don’t know what that is, look it up becuase Im not sure how to explain it in words.
A solid lifiting schedule also helps. light weights, lots of reps.

As far as swing thoughts go, just try to hit the ball in the center of the clubface. This will increase distance. To increase speed, try keeping your head still. This common sense tip actually does wonders. Good luck.

Faster swing does not always create faster swing speed.
Like most golf pros, they can acquire a great deal of lag to increase swing speed. Lag is created by maintaining your wrist cock as long as you can on your downswing. The longer the lag the faster swing speed you are gonna get. Sergio Garcia is one of the golfer who can maintain a good lag during his downswing. You can see the slow motion of his golf swing on Youtube.
