my friend is pretty good at golf. he shoots about par for the course. i try to get him to help me some and he says my main problem is my lower body is all over the place during my swing. i shoot in the mid 90s. is there any drill i can do to control my body more during my swing?
An empty shoe box on end on the ground inside each of your legs.

a good drill is to set up to the ball with your stand bag touching your right hip (for a right hander), on the backswing turn your left shoulder over your right foot without moving the bag. on the downswing you want your lower body to drive forward. im assuming this is what your friend is talking about.

if you want less movement stick broken clubshaft or broomstick in the ground place on your butt .swing without losing contact on that spot. But understand a good strong shot has the hips moving laterally and opening . Every thing rotates around the spine. And remember just cause someone is a terrific golfer doesn’t qualify him as a terrific teacher. Maybe that is why he is reluctant to help.

Yes, the drill is to hit golf balls with your feet completely together. It’ll stop you from teetering all over the place. I did it when I was swaying away from the ball. It forces you to turn during your swing.

Try sticking a shaft (or dowel rod, broomstick handle, etc.) in the ground, just outside your right foot. Make your swing and don’t bump the shaft.
You could also do the "cheek-to-cheek" drill. If you have a cart bag, stand it up on a flat surface and set up with your rear just short of touching it. If you have a stand bag, kick its legs out and set up just shy of the "mouth" of the bag. When you take your backswing, your right glute should touch the bag, and when you follow through, the left cheek touches. If both (or neither) glute touches… you’re in trouble.
