Perth shock: Severe storm causes floods, mudslides in Australia

A severe storm has battered western Australia causing widespread flooding and mudslides. It’s also left tens of thousands of people without power in one of the world’s most isolated cities, Perth. Homes and cars have been damaged by hail stones the size of Golf Balls and a number of schools have closed. Winds reached more than 120 kilometres per hour, while almost a month’s worth of rain fell in just a few hours. Insurance claims ‘catastrophic’ damage with of over $100 million.

This wasnt fun, I was riding my bike home when the storm hit, check out the video of “The Great Perth Storm” by Liam Underwood, for a view of what I saw when it came towards me at 4.15pm. It turned the sky black, birds were flying away and I hid under a bike tunnel next to the freeway and the rain went straight through blown by the 100km wind with sand. 100km + winds! Very scary!!!

@superfuzz you are wrong, people were hurt. One of my friends had his head split open by a direct hit from a big hailstone. I myself only just escaped injury when a large branch from the tree in my backyard was blown off.
It was agood storm and we really needed the rain. I hadn’t had a drop of rain at my place for over 4 months ( I’m about 10km south of the city )
