70,000 rpm golf ball

Taking compressed air and spinning a titleist golf ball 70,000 rpm. watch for it, but its there. The loud noise at the end is the ball. We used an actual optical tachometer. Speed calculated out to be 270 mph.

@LMF5000 Interesting post! I was wondering the same thing (RPM v Hz), although to my ear, the sound SEEMS higher than 1166Hz range. However, your statement sounds well founded, so I’ll take your word for it.

used to do that with a pressure washer when washing golf balls. If i hit the ball dead on with the washer, the ball would melt.

do you know what pressure you were running? i did this, just with my hand and not a funnel… at about 100 psi. i guessed it to be about 17000 rpm, but not sure.
