Golf Courses Archives

Mallorca has transformed in recent years to become one of the best new golfing hotspots in Europe. Mallorca golf holidays are really growing in popularity thanks to the
recently-built top-quality courses, fine Mediterranean food, the fine weather and a heavy investment in re-establishing the island as the ideal escape for middle-class Europe. Whether you’re going for golf, golf, golf or if you fancy a top-class hotel, you’ll have a big smile on your face. If you’re planning on a golf break in Mallorca, these are the 5 courses you simply must pay a visit to:

Canyamel Golf

This is one of those Golf Courses which is a genuine joy to play from the first hole to the last. It’s a very pretty set-up and boasts stunning views – by the fourth hole you can see over the edge of a cliff into the brilliant blue waters beyond. The actual design is tricky so you’ll need to think off the tee and be happy to settle for 36 points. Definitely one to play on a golf break in Mallorca.

Club De Golf

Scoring an impressive 17/20 in the Peugeot Golf Guide, this Trent Jones Jr design offers coastal views along with a fine game of golf. Long holes and some steep slopes provide the core of the challenge so hit your drives to the right spot and always hit longer than you think necessary. A very nice course with an authentic “Spanish” feel to it.
Golf in Majorca doesn’t come much better than this.

Golf Park Mallorca

One of the more recent additions to Mallorca’s golf courses, this Jack Nicklaus-design has swiftly joined the ranks of Europe’s best. You’ll need to be accurate to score well, and approach shots require special concentration to deal with the hallmark Nicklaus hazards – bunkers, water and huge greens. Already a clients’ favourite and arguably the final piece in the Mallorcan golf jigsaw…There is now no reason not to go on
a Mallorca golf break.

Pula Golf

Host to the Mallorcan Open and with a mountain backdrop, this is a course that combines good looks with an enjoyable challenge. In fact, it’s one of the most difficult in Mallorca especially when the wind picks up, and matching the Par of 70 is a tough task…Particularly off the back tees at 6,676 yards length.

Son Vida

In the shadow of Son Vida’s castle, this is Mallorca’s oldest course and it has aged well with the occasional tweak to the excellent original Fred Hawtree design. Renowned for its great greens, it’s also a very lovely walk with a super lunch on offer too. However, make sure you don’t get lulled into a false sense of security because the back nine can bite and Golf Balls are not cheap!

The sun, the fine sea food and the splendid golf make golf breaks in Mallorca a real treat. Plus, in the golfing peak months of September through to June, you’ll see this beautiful island at is very best. Classy sunshine golf.

The Best Golf Courses in South Africa

Whether you’re a seasoned golfing enthusiast who always keeps their clubs on them, or are the type who plays the odd game now and then to relax, luxury holidays in South Africa are impressively well catered for. South Africa’s varied terrain makes it a unique destination for golfers, with a mix of breathtaking coastal courses, a fine elevated selection and a good number included in international events. Then of course there’s the weather – the climate is absolutely ideal, with the bright sunshine perfect for those who like to spend their times on the fairways and outside the clubhouse.

Here are some of the best golf courses in South Africa. If you only play a couple of times while out there, make sure one of these is on your list:

Leopard Creek

Leopard Creek is pretty much the undisputed jewel in South Africa’s golfing crown, and is a frequent inclusion in ‘World’s Best Courses’ lists. If you only play a handful of courses on your golf holiday in South Africa, make sure this is one of them. As well as being an entertaining and challenging course in its own right, what is really unique about Leopard Creek is its location: right on the border of the world-renowned Kruger National Park. The course (a Gary Player design) is sculpted to make the most of its location, and you shouldn’t be surprised to see a number of moving hazards around the water features, as warthogs, giraffes and crocodiles have been known to wander the course, and the trees are full of exotic birds too. With this kind of scenery, it’s an unforgettable round of golf, but don’t let it spoil your concentration for the final hole: a dramatic island green that has been known to make and break scorecards!

Gary Player Country Club

Unsurprisingly, this South Africa golf course was also designed by the legendary Gary Player, and it’s very much a challenge fitting for the man himself. This is one of the longest and toughest courses in the country, and not one for South Africa holiday makers who barely play. If you have the skills though, this course is another which frequently sneaks into ‘worlds best’ lists, albeit at a lower entry point than Leopard Creek. You need to have an accurate approach and watch out for the copious bunkers and water hazards to get a decent score here.

Wild Coast Country Club

Don’t be lulled into a false sense of security by the incredible Indian Ocean views – this is actually quite a tricky course, especially if you find yourself straying into the rough, or the coastal winds whip up! It’s quite a varied course, featuring several unexpected changes in elevation, which offset the relatively wide fairways. Look out for the thirteenth hole, which is a particularly taxing one, craftily designed to be up there with some of the best in the world. If you’re heading for a golf holiday in South Africa, this is a must.

Fancourt Hotel, Country Club and Golf Estate

Yet another Gary Player design that’s world renowned for a great round of golf, the Fancourt Hotels’ golf course is located on the charming southern Cape. The views are stunning, as is the golf – though it took a lot of effort to make. Over 700,000 metres of earth were moved to make this links style course on a surface that was originally flat! It was well worth the effort though, and if Links style play is your preference then this is certainly worth a visit. The hotel itself is very nice as well, and a good choice if you want to combine a few rounds of golf with your luxury holiday in South Africa.

Arabella Country Club

Not even 10 years old yet, the Arabella Golf Club has come a very long way in a short time, and is now one of the most celebrated Golf Courses in South Africa. Designed by the celebrated South African golf architect Peter Matkovich, the course is a wonderfully memorable mix of rolling fairways, cheeky bunkers and well placed water traps. It’s quite a sight too, as the course borders South Africa’s largest natural lagoon!

There are plenty of golf courses in South Africa, and although most struggle to match up to the high standards laid out by these ones, the perfect conditions mean you’re pretty much guaranteed an enjoyable round wherever you go. So if you’re planning on a luxury holiday in South Africa, don’t rule out some quality time on the fairways!

Robert Santry

Most everywhere one goes in Kaui, has as many feral chickens as people. Yet there are none on the Golf Courses. Also, som areas seem to have only adult males, where others are babies.

Kukuiolono Golf Club

The Kukuiolono Golf Course & Park in Kalaheo is one of Kauai’s best-kept secrets.
Originally built as the personal golf course of sugar magnate Walter D. McBryde, and later donated by the family, Kukuiolono is now a delightful 9-hole public course. The course is in Kukuiolono Park,..In fact, you’ll see McBryde’s grave on the course, along with some other oddities like wild chickens, ancient Hawaiian rock structures, and Japanese gardens.
There are plenty of trees to keep you on your game. When you
get to the second tee box, check out the coconut tree dotted with yellow, pink, orange, and white Golf Balls that have been driven into
the bark.

How do you do get to play golf free on some of the worlds best courses?

Well to begin with you will have to become the group leader of a golfing group of at least 16 or more players in order to qualify. After achieving this task you will begin searching for the best golf packaging companies in order to find those with the most agreeable group rates to match your golf group vacation budget. Once you make contact with the golf packaging company of your choice you should tell them immediately that you are the group leader of your large golfing group of sixteen players or more and that you want to make group course accommodation reservations. However, you will only do so on the condition that your own golfing accommodations of playing and staying are free for you to use.

Remember to keep an eye out for hidden golf related fees such as for the golf carts. Ask if the Golf Cart fees are included for you and your golfing group. If they are not included in your package, you should insist on having them or find another golf course package. You should also make sure you understand the conditions of any course that may be offered in an upgrade which involves course surcharges. This means taking the time to call the various golf courses to find out about their course conditions and their schedule of maintenance, yourself.

When you want to make the most of your free golfing privileges you should learn all you can about the local market of any area destination. You should also find out what the distance is between your preplanned accommodations and the golf course you plan to play through. Keep in mind while planning your golf vacation that you might get a better deal if you plans are to be made during the summer and winter rather than during spring of fall as these are generally slower. When you are searching for the best options for your golf buddies and yourself, you will need to do some research rather than just picking any old golf package. You will also benefit by reading all the fine print and booking with a knowledgeable and reputable golf related company. You may as well ask for any customer references too. Keep in mind when dealing with hotels you may find that they can be very accommodating about their own business golfing faculties.

Getting to stay and play free golf courses can be loads of fun for you as well as your group. By taking the time to properly plan out your golfing vacation you may find that there are other interests that might be worthwhile while you are visiting a new area or even returning to a favorite location. When you need some downtime from golfing you may be able to spend your extra time visiting the local business market or entertainment offerings such as theaters, museums, shopping, dinning, amusement and water parks or even some exciting night life entertainment. This of course will depend upon the area you chose for your group golfing excursion.

Make the most of learning how to play golf for free on some of the worlds best courses. Imagine yourself and your group of golf players enjoying all that your destination location has to offer. You can be improving your swing techniques during the day and then relaxing in the evening in any manner you chose. You can all have the enjoyable and relaxing golf vacation you have been dreaming of, while making memories that will last you a lifetime.

You should also consider investigating any other type of discount that may be offered by golf related businesses that can enhance your free play and stay accommodations while being a golf group leader. You might find that you can take advantage of other small free golf items such as hats, clothing, drink holders and balls or even holiday discounts if you nose around a bit. Perhaps you may even be able to swing a discount for your airfare when you are the leader of a golf group. Do not be shy, ask questions, make suggestions, but always be thoughtful and courteous. And remember, if you and your golfing group of players leave a long lasting and responsible good impression, you will be welcomed back to any establishment again and again. You just may enjoy playing golf free on some of the best courses whenever you get good and ready to do so. Who knows, if you get really good at it, you may never have to pay for your own golfing accommodations or games again!
