Rule 4-4. Maximum of 14 Clubs

a. Selection and Addition of ClubsThe player must not start a stipulated round with more than 14 clubs. He is limited to the clubs thus selected for that round, except that if he started with fewer than 14 clubs, he may add any number, provided his total number does not exceed 14.

The addition of a club or clubs must not unduly delay play (Rule 6-7) and the player must not add or borrow any club selected for play by any other person playing on the course.

Golf is a sport in which the players can almost constantly find something new to spend their money on. The clubs alone can cost insane amounts in order to get the nicest graphite ones. Have you ever hit a hole in one? This sort of event is something that does not soon leave a golfer’s mind, and the Hole-N-One plaque is not going to speed it up. This plaque is sold online and in some golf stores, and comes with the plaque itself and the kit to quickly fasten a golf ball to it.

The goal is to proudly display the ball that you used to hit the hole in one for everyone to see. One clever internet site offers something called the Tee-Card. It is a small product the size of a business card, and it pops out to form a golf tee that can be used as many times as you want. It is unclear whether this product works on grass or not, but it seems hard to imagine how a product like that could function in grass. It’s hard to imagine who this accessory could be intended for, but it sure seems like a novel idea.

Another interesting novelty accessory is the “WOW” putter, which is equipped with so many gadgets it would make James Bond jealous. Supposedly the gadgets are supposed to aid the golfer in making a better putt, but you may have trouble imagining how they could all come in handy.

The head of the putter includes a tape measure, a compass, a level, a rabbit foot, and a horn. Surprisingly, the putter is fairly usable despite all of the attachments. If you think that you could actually use a tape measure or a compass or a level during your putting, then this could be the perfect putter that has eluded you for so long.

For more extravagant and seemingly unnecessary golf accessories, you can buy all sorts of personalized Golf Clubs and accessories. One company offers a putter plated in 24k gold, personalized with whatever message the buyer chooses. This is a great way to show off to all of your golfing friends, and let them see what a nice putter you have.

Unfortunately, the price can run fairly high for the gold plated versions. If you really want your golf accessories to be plated in gold you will be paying a fair price for it. You will have to decide for yourself whether it is worth it or not.

As you can see, there are countless pointless accessories for the game of golf. You can show off all of your accomplishments in an extravagant way, or you can bring all sorts of gadgets with you onto the golf course. Probably my most favorite single workout is a circuit training routine I do at home in my garage.  Although it’s a bit dirty in there, it is a large space and I have a nice set up with a weight bench, squat rack with lat machine, dumbbell rack, and a 70 pound heavy bag. 

 The routine I perform is excellent in that it combines strength training with aerobic conditioning.  I combine the moves and forms I learned while training in the art of Pai Lum Kung Fu, with more typical weight lifting and calisthenics.  It is easy to substitute the Kung Fu forms with any type of aerobic type exercise, such as jumping rope.

 My workout also hits all of the major muscle groups, which is important for golfers, because the golf swing incorporates all of the major muscle groups.  However, I should note that most of the exercises focus on the legs, the most important muscles for generating power in your Golf Swing.  The other important benefit to golfers from this routine is that it helps to improve your endurance and it will help shed pounds without doing any high impact aerobic moves.  This will help the golfer maintain performance as well at the end of the around as at the beginning.

 When I perform this routine, I perform 12 to 15 repetitions for each exercise (except for Kung Fu Stances – which are held for 1 minute).    I select a weight that is about 70% of the maximum amount of weight I can lift for one rep. 

 Here is a sample routine:

Warm Up – Jump Rope for 5 minutes, then light stretching

1. Jump Rope – 60 seconds
2. Bench Press –
3. Leg Extension
4. Kung Fu Form 1 or Jump Rope 60 seconds
5. Heavy Bag – 60 seconds – Hands only
6. Dumbbell Shoulder Press
7. Horse Stance – 60 seconds
8. Kung Fu Form 2 or Jump Rope 60 seconds
9. Heavy Bag – 60 seconds – Kicking only
10. Lat Pulldown
11. Step back lunge with dumbbells
12.  Kung Fu Form 3  or Jump Rope 60 seconds
13. Heavy Bag – 60 seconds – Hands and Feet
14. Dumbbell Chest Flies
15. Leg Extension
16. Kung Fu Form 4 or Jump Rope 60 seconds
17. Heavy Bag – 60 seconds – Hands Only
18. Seated Cable Row
19. Monkey Stance – 60 seconds
20. Kung Fu Form 5 or Jump Rope 60 seconds
21. Heavy Bag – 60 seconds – Kicking
22. Dumbbell Shoulder Flies

You should note that there is no essentially no rest in between exercises, this keeps the heart rate up through the entire workout.  This particular routine takes about 30 minutes to complete after the warm up. 

Depending upon how much time I have, I will do a workout that lasts anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes.  There is a myriad of exercises you can include in this type of workout, and many you can perform without having any equipment. 

You will note that this particular circuit routine does not include any exercises that work on your core muscles such as the lower back and abdominals.  I prefer to work these muscles in a separate routine after my circuit workout.  However, you can certainly include these in any circuit routine. 

During your off-season training, a good circuit routine should be an important of your program to improve your golf game.  The benefits of a good circuit routine are truly significant to the golfer, as it will improve strength in all of the important muscle groups while at the same time it will improve your overall endurance.  If you perform this routine three days per week and combine it with a proper diet, you will also have the added benefit of weight loss if needed. 

Remember, even though the weather may be cold in your part of the world, you can still improve your golf game!

Choosing the right Golf Equipment is very important and it is not just about how much you spend on it that counts. There is a huge array of golf equipment available to day, both on- and offline so it can be quite confusing when you are just starting out.

The first golf equipment to consider is what type of clubs you should get. These have to be suitable for your height, weight and the type of game you play. Most people use standard length clubs which are fine for men between 5 feet 2 inches and 5 feet 10 inches in height and for women between five feet and five feet 5 inches. If you are outside these ranges though you may need to get special custom made ones.

Depending on where in the world you are playing, it is probably advisable to carry waterproofs in your bag. Hats, caps and sunglasses are other things you should consider too.

A good pair of shoes is also an essential piece of golf euipment. Most players opt for a leather shoe, which allows the foot to breath, combined with a rubber sole containing either spikes or pimples.

When it comes to your hands most players wear a left hand glove to maintain a constant grip. These gloves can be either leather or synthetic and should fit tighter than a normal glove. Another useful piece of golf equipment if you are playing in cold weather it is a good idea to use a large pair of mittens that you can slip on between shots as it is very difficult to grip the club properly if your hands get too cold.

Finally, you will need something to carry all this new golf equipment in. Golf Bags come in a huge array of shapes and sizes from drainpipe bags that only carry 6 or 7 clubs, which are good for when you are practising, to an all in one bag/trolley which can be useful when travelling. If you are going to be carrying your bag then make sure it is not to heavy and that it has a strong strap.
