Like the question! How do I actually improve in golf swing? does my hand positioning needs replacing? and what sort of tempo should I move at? I often swing so hesitated , is it about confidence???

Obviously, we know that the hands grip the golf club and attach the body to the club. But what is the importance of them during the swing?

The answer has to do with releasing of the club. Let’s go at some quick golf biomechanics review. During the swing, from address position to follow-through, the hands are active in a passive type of manner.

Let me explain. The goal of the Golf Swing is to move the club on the correct swing plane to induce the intended golf shot that you want. This occurs through the body’s moving through a series of positions. These positions are found within the different phases of the golf swing.

The phases of the swing are address, take-away, backswing, transition, downswing, impact, and follow-through. During all of these movements the body is performing, the golf club is being moved upon a swing plane. The swing plane is the path upon which the golf club is to travel. Proper impact with the golf ball requires the golf club’s traveling upon the correct swing plane.

In order for the club to travel on the correct swing plane it is necessary for the clubface to open and close. Oftentimes, in golf terms the opening and closing, of the clubface is termed "releasing of the club." This is where the hands become an integral part of the golf swing.

Well I think is best if you actually come and learn this simple golf swing technique…
it completely guides you through step by step and in a more visual way, very hard to explain here !

I want to give golf a try. Can you please tell me where I should look for good equipment, what brands I should look into and how much everything should cost me at most if I’m a beginner. It would be great if all the equipment could cost under $300, but I guess I could go as high as $500. Thanks a lot

Before you go out and spend that kind of money look into beginner group golf classes to make sure this is something you want to do. Golf is one of the most expenses sports there are. If you go out and spend money on clubs and find out that you hate it then you wasted that money, if you find that you love it then you will be replacing that set you just bough in 6 to 8 months.

If you are dead set on buying a set check with local gold shops to see if that have any used clubs. If you are the type of guys that only wants new then try a sporting good store, just make sure to tell them you need a complete set (Bag, Irons, Woods, Putter) and you are a beginner.

To give you a direct answer to your questioni: Any sporting goods store. If you have never heard of the company then don’t buy it!

Good Luck

How does my dog find golf balls?

My dog is a border collie (sheepdog) 1 year old. I go over to my local golf course looking for Golf Balls and he he has learned from watching me that it’s golf balls I’m looking for. What he does now is he would be walking along and then out of nowhere he jumps into a bush and comes out with a golf ball in his mouth! He finds about 6 or 7 every time I go out. I’m just wondering how does he know they are there?! Because the bushes are so dense it’s impossible to see into them!

Border Collies are extremely intelligent dogs and learn very quickly. He is doing it by scent, the balls are handled by people, people have unique but similar scents, and he has associated golf balls as a way of getting praise from you.

I will bet you scratch his ears and make a big deal out of it when he finds one. If so, you are giving him exactly what you want.

Border collies are one of the smartest dogs I have meet and I love training them.

I’m selling golf balls online that i retrieved from the river and ponds from a golf course which I clean until they are like new.

One guy asked me if the Golf Balls were refurbished or were they lake balls? What do I say?

He also said he doesn’t want recoated ones, what does that mean too?

Refurbished means they have been recovered, and possibly buffed and remarked. Lake balls are straight out of the lake, nothing special.

Never heard of balls being recoated. Another coat would push the balls diameter beyond the standard and make it fly shorter. and not to mention surlyn or urethane are expensive.

Discount on golf store closing?

There’s an Austad’s Golf store closing in my city, and it was at 15% off for about a month. I bought an iron set, but when i went back, the entire store was 20% off. How much of a discount do you think they will give before they will close? I asked a lady there when they were planning to close a while ago, she said mid-August, and they’re still open.
I’m still looking for a nice putter, but I don’t want to buy too early.
Thanks!

25% at most on major brands. Up to 75% off of worse brands/cheaper brands. I’d say entire store 25% off at most, but 20% off is really good. They might also have a final day closeout with even better discounts.
