What happened to those golf balls on the moon?

One of the astronauts on an Apollo mission hit some golf balls on the moon, what happened I heard different stories some say they didnt go very far and others said they did. If a golfer can drive a ball 200 yards on Earth how far would you expect the same golfer to drive a ball on the moon? How far on Mars?

Apollo 14 commander Alan Shepard hit two Golf Balls at the end of his Apollo mission. According to his copilot Ed Mitchell the farthest one only went about 60 feet, although Shepard joked on the radio that it went for "miles and miles." Mission Control’s comment, "Looked like a slice to me," is also a joke — a "slice" in golf requires air for the spinning ball to interact with.

A golfer on Earth using proper form can hit a golf ball hundreds of yards. But an astronaut hampered by his space suit is lucky to hit it at all. Shepard missed his first few strokes entirely, and could only manage a one-handed swing. If he were able to take a proper swing unimpeded, he would probably be able to drive the ball a great distance.

How do you convert a gas golf cart to electric?

I have a D4 model AMF Harley-Davidson Golf Cart and would like to convert it to electric. Anyone know of any conversion kits and the like for this?

forget it. You can buy a new electric for what it would take to convert. Plus, the electric cart won’t pull the hills that a gasoline engine will.

Is there a cancer discount golf card for Arizona?

It’s hard to say, so I think you can go to the website below to have a look.

What is the mark up on golf equipment?

I hear the mark up on Golf Clubs is close to 300% is this true or is there a more accurate figure. I was also wondering the mark up is on Golf Bags and balls!

If you are talking about markup at retail, 20% to 40% is the truth. When you buy a TaylorMade or other driver for $399.99. the store paid a bit over $300 for it, plus shipping/freight, plus the cost of the money sitting on the floor til it sells. Bags are about the same. Balls are even less mark up. On a $20 dozen box of Titleist SoLo for example, the store paid over $17.50 for the balls. Not too much profit.

At the manufacturing end, things are different- to a point. Sure, the head may cost $20-$50, the shaft $5-$50, a dollar or two for the grip, for a total far less than the retail (or wholesale price). However, remember that the major brands spend around $250,000,000 to $300,000,000 per year in r&d, plus the expense of pro contracts and all the marketing.

So, in the end, it is not all profit.
